I know what you mean about playing piano. These games are incredibly deep and that makes for a huge learning curve. Unfortunately, I have to agree that lag really kills the experience in these games. I don't know if you've already been playing 1 player at it, but it's probably a good idea to start off. If you're having trouble executing specials, playing against a seasoned pro who's landing hits left and right isn't gonna be a good environment for learning that skill.

Good job. I remember back in the day, ~18 or so years ago, when I was on some boring family vacation I spent many hours every day playing the game, eventually no-missing it. No idea how many lives I had left, though. Also got really good in Motocross Maniacs. Ah, the days of youth when gaming time was ample...

No, I was comparing the Dimensions port to the one in R-Types collection for PS1. Sorry if that wasn't clear.

It's interesting that the dimensions and regular versions are different gameplay wise, because can't you switch them on the fly?

I read an interview with Tsuneki Ikeda not too long ago where he mentioned Salamander's loops changing completely depending on a variety of factors; really made it seem like the meat of the game was in the 2nd loop on. The battle might be just beginning...!

That's kinda shitty. Sounds sort of like what happened to me recently with using the XConvertor360 to convert PS2 > 360. It requires a bypass controller to be plugged into it so I bought a Mad Katz one for $25 off ebay. Turns out the thing works shitty with the convertor, and then stopped functioning all together when I updated the console. Then I had to buy another 360 controller but this time an official wired one. There goes $25. Though, your loss is more annoying. Damned technology.
